Lets all go down The Strand

Standard

Strand

I started this a while back and then everything got a bit too busy. Finally found a bit of time to finish it off yesterday.
It’s been a while since I posted anything, aiming to get a bit more done, just need to find a few extra hours in the day.

  1. What are all those people doing? I’m trying to work it out – are they particularly anti-social bus stoppers? Trying to work out what stretch this is and whether there’s anything in the windows they might be interested in.. however, they also seem to be interested in the sills and each other. I’m stumped!
I’m reminded from your title, of a piece in the Londonist blog once when they wrote about how the blog was not entitled The Londonist, but simply Londonist, just as the Strand is not The Strand but simply Strand. That threw me, because I’ve always called it The Strand. Doesn’t seem grammatically correct to do otherwise. But “Let’s all go down The Strand” is of course perfectly correct. No need for a to or anything, otherwise you’d obviously not be a native Londoner πŸ˜‰
Love this piece. Only thing is, I want to know where you got that gleaming evening sunlight on the building from… it looks lovely!

    • Thanks, they’re waiting to cross the road. Being lazy I’ve not drawn in any traffic or anyone on the other side, so it might look a bit odd. Yes, the Strand, can’t really say it without ‘the’, it’s the junction by Aldwych and Waterloo Bridge.

      • Oh I see it now πŸ˜‰ Yes, I was wondering if it was that particular junction, because of the curve in that building – a lovely little corner of the Strand πŸ™‚
