Elephant & Castle

Standard

I’ve been neglecting this blog a bit lately, quite a while since I last posted. I’ve still been drawing so I’m going to aim to start blogging them again for 2016.

Here’s a few drawings from around the Elephant and Castle. There’s a lot of regeneration work going on around here, the old Elephant is slowly being demolished and a new shiny Elephant is being built in its place. Doubt if much of this will be “affordable”.

Orangutan

Standard

Project5_2a

Following on from my last post, here’s another venture into the animal kingdom.  Went to the Horniman Museum at the weekend for the first time, will definateley have to try and get back again. there’s a lot of stuffed animals and skeletons. Spent around an hour drawing Orangutan skull, it was attached to a full skeleton but that was just too complicated to draw. Maybe next time.

Snowdon

Llyn Idwal

Llyn Llydaw

Been away from the urban grind for a while, swapped the congestion and pollution of London for the open expanses and peace of North Wales. I don’t often draw landscapes, but here’s two sketches I did halfway up Snowdon. The two lakes are Llyn Idwal and Llyn Llydaw. Went up the easyish route, which was still hard going, took around 8 hours, some very sore feet by the time we got back down.

New Sketchbook

Standard

Trafalgar Squ June 14

I find it impossible to walk past an art shop without going in and it’s almost impossible to leave without buying something. Today’s purchase was an A4 hardback sketchbook. I always promise to fill a new sketch book but I never do, I walk past too many artshops and keep buying new ones,I have a lot of half filled sketchbooks, my last one was 3/4 so that’s not too bad. Here’s the first in the new one.

Cafe des Beax Arts

Cafe des Beax Arts

It’s been a while since I last went to Paris and seeing as it’s only a cuople of hours by train from London, it was time for another visit. So had a long weekend of walking and looked at a lot of art. The Pompidou Centre and the Musée d’Orsay were the highlights but missed the Louvre. It was shut by the time we got there, didn’t mind missing that one. Crossed over onto the left bank to find somewhere to have a drink and the Cafe des Beax Arts had the Mona Lisa framed behind the bar and no crowds taking pictures of it. So relaxed with a glass of red and did a bit of drawing.
